You get SS after you cross 55 or 58 I think. How knows by then they might bring some law to stop the SS for outsiders.

the only reason i'm staying here is to complete the 10 years of social security payments. leaving now would be foolish. this green card business is just a carrot to get endlessly humiliated.
does anyone have any knowledge of non-citizens claiming social security in india?
as per the SS, indian citizens who have contributed >= 10 years can claim SS payments in india.

Hello,
I will be getting married to a H1 holder in India and because of the time involved in obtaining a marriage certificate, am planning to leave shortly after the wedding with my existing B2/tourist visa. What are my options of applying for a H4 once I do that - would I have to come back to India to apply for that, or can it be done from Canada/Mexico - are there any risks pertaining to intent of travel associated with such an action. Thanking you in advance for valuable help in this matter!
You would be better off stamping your H4 in India, my 2 cents. Especially B1/B2 to any non-immigrant visas most of the time is a mess in my opinion.

Same thing here.... Applied 1/25/11... Contacted USCIS and second level IO said everything is fine with the application and he was able to see the application in system and pending.... He said something is wrong with online system so it is not showing up online.... Hope he is right.....

I did it online on 3/21/09 and got approved for me and my wife on 3/31/09. 10 days total turn around! I was amazed to see USCIS's efficiency on cases filed online. I heard the opposite that if you file online it was taking long time. Mine was at NSC

Why is Tata giving such huge donations to schools in US that are already established?
I would think he should have given donations to schools or colleges in India that really need it. Especially in remote villages where there are no schools or proper infrastructure.

Since then, I have not received any other letter/notice, or the GC itself, and I am still stuck outside the US, without my husband. My lawyer is not doing naything about it, and I dont know what I can do?? I have tried contacting the 1800 number, and they say they put in service requests for me, but I have still not received any new information from that end as well, and each time, I have to wait 45 days before they can put in a new service request.
Help!!

I dont think it is allowed. One would think that working outside the US while you are waiting for "Adjustment of Status" would be considered abandonment of your I 485
